Cross-beam lifting magnets ET

Set of lifting magnets

The ET type cross-beam lifting magnets (electromagnetic grippers) are designed for handling steel plates, sections, profiles, pipes and bars up to 18 m long. The material can be lifted individually, in packages or bundles. The lifting magnets mounted on the common cross-beam enable the handling of low-rigid materials with a high deflection coefficient, such as thin sheets, reinforcing bars, etc. ET Electromagnets improve internal transport and shorten loading time in steelworks, shipyards, ports, railway terminals and steel warehouses.

The cross-beam electromagnetic grippers are reliable, very robust and designed for S3 75% intermittent periodic duty. The electromagnetic grippers are characterized by high attractive force, high lifting capacity and high handling efficiency. The ET electromagnets have high-quality windings made of aluminum tape with the highest class of insulation. This makes them resistant to high temperatures and very durable.

Working principle of cross-beam lifting magnets

The beam traverse with the electromagnetic grippers suspended on it in a non-magnetized state (disconnected from the power supply) is lowered onto the load by the crane operator. After applying the supply voltage from the control cabinet, direct current flows through the windings of the electromagnets. A strong magnetic field is generated at the magnetic poles of the grippers. This operating state is called magnetization. The grippers attract the load until the operator turns off the power. This operating state is called demagnetization. The digital AC/DC converter installed in the control cabinet is responsible for the quick discharge function of the circuit and regulation of the power of the electromagnets. The Tipping function enables quick completion of an individual customer order, e.g. by lifting only one sheet of metal from the entire package and delivering it to the desired loading location.

Why choose our cross-beam lifting magnets?

A set of electromagnets is used when a single electromagnet is unable to lift or ensure safe transport of the lifted material. Materials with a large sag, such as thin sheets or reinforcing wires in bundles, require the use of several electromagnets suspended on a common traverse. Optimal selection of the length of the traverse and the number of electromagnets for the lifted product increases operational safety and reduces the risk of accidents. Additional handling personnel are no longer required near the load, which reduces logistics costs and increases service speed.

Transport using electromagnetic systems does not cause damage to the lifted material and ensures full use of warehouse space. The Magnetix company provides control of electromagnetic gripper units both in closed and open areas. We select and deliver emergency power supply systems, which consist of a battery bank and additional control in the main electromagnet power supply cabinet. The traverses we supply are fully wired and equipped with chain slings. The traverse is powered using a cable reel.
