Magnetic plate (PM)

The PM type magnetic plate (protective magnet) is intended for removal of ferrous contaminants from bulk materials. The PM magnet protects process machines against damage caused by metal contamination, prevents production downtime and ensures product quality.

The PM plate magnet is reliable and very robust. The PM magnet is characterized by high metal separation efficiency. The ferrite or neodymium permanent magnets used in the magnetic plate have high coercivity, which makes them difficult to demagnetize. Therefore, the  plate magnet has a long service life.

Versions of plate magnets

  • PM-F type ferrite plate
    Made of ferrite magnets with medium magnetic field intensity;
    Designed to remove metal contaminants from the transported material, such as screws, bolts and other broken machine parts.
  • PM-N type neodymium plate
    Made of strong neodymium magnets with high flux density;
    Designed to remove metal contaminants from the transported material, such as bearing balls, metal filings, iron oxides and others with a small adhesion surface to the magnet and weakly magnetically susceptible.

Installation methods of magnetic plates

Depending on the version, the magnetic plate can be installed in various places on the production line. The most common locations of magnetic plates in technological lines include:

  • belt conveyors or vibrating feeders,
  • chute stations of belt conveyors,
  • aeration troughs,
  • gravity chutes,
  • pneumatic pipelines.

When installed above a belt conveyor, the plate is equipped with hanging holders. However, the plate installed in the gravity chute has raised pole pieces that prevent the captured metals from detaching.
