Magnetic drum separator (SBM)

The SBM type drum magnetic separator is designed for automatic separation of ferrous metals from medium- and fine-grained bulk materials in gravity chutes. The drum separator protects process machines against damage caused by metal contamination, prevents production downtime and ensures product quality. The SBM separator is also used to recover valuable ferrous scrap in waste recycling processes.

The SBM drum separator is reliable, very durable and designed for continuous operation.  The separator is characterized by high metal separation efficiency. The ferrite or neodymium permanent magnets used in the magnetic drum have high coercivity, which makes them difficult to demagnetize. Therefore, the drum separator has a long service life.

  • SBM-F type drum magnetic separator
    Equipped with ferrite magnetic drum with medium magnetic field intensity designed to remove larger metal contaminants from the transported material, such as screws, bolts and other broken machine parts.
  • SBM-N type drum magnetic separator
    Equipped with neodymium magnetic drum with high magnetic field intensity designed to remove small metal contaminants from the transported material, such as bearing balls, metal filings, iron oxides and others with a small adhesion surface to the magnet and weakly magnetically susceptible.

The principle of operation of the drum separator

The material to be separated is directed through the separator hopper to the magnetic part of the drum. Iron contaminants are captured by the magnetic field generated by strong permanent magnets placed under the drum shell. During the rotation of the drum, the cleats placed on the shell carry the captured iron parts in the magnetic field until it disappears, where they fall off automatically into the metal chute. However, the magnetically neutral material flows freely through the drum and leaves the separator.
